Rotten Raoul's Rants

This site is dedicated to exposing the hypocrisy of our society especially when it comes to the religious nutjobs. At times the REAL Jesus may be discussed if I can extract myself from this political mess we're find ourselves in. Along the way I will express satire about practically everything we see today. You have my promise that your comments will NEVER be censored or even moderated on this blog. It's called 'freedom of speech' - something that scares the crap out of right wing religionists.

Breaking News - the NEW GOP Leader!!

Zombie Reagan Raised From Grave To Lead GOP
SOURCE: WWW.THEONION.COM

This doesn't really surprise me because the right wing loonies ALWAYS seem to look back at the non-existent 'good ole days' instead of living in the present. If you visit their blogs you'd find more references about the Gipper than any other president.

There's a strong rumor going around that the Lefties are going to counter this move by resurrecting the corpse of FDR......

Don't blame Lieberman...

Contrary to Obama's occasional public statements in support of a public option, the White House clearly intended from the start that the final health care reform bill would contain no such provision and was actively and privately participating in efforts to shape a final bill without it. From the start, assuaging the health insurance and pharmaceutical industries was a central preoccupation of the White House -- hence the deal negotiated in strict secrecy with Pharma to ban bulk price negotiations and drug reimportation, a blatant violation of both Obama's campaign positions on those issues and his promise to conduct all negotiations out in the open (on C-SPAN). Indeed, Democrats led the way yesterday in killing drug re-importation, which they endlessly claimed to support back when they couldn't pass it. The administration wants not only to prevent industry money from funding an anti-health-care-reform campaign, but also wants to ensure that the Democratic Party -- rather than the GOP -- will continue to be the prime recipient of industry largesse.

As was painfully predictable all along, the final bill will not have any form of public option, nor will it include the wildly popular expansion of Medicare coverage. Obama supporters are eager to depict the White House as nothing more than a helpless victim in all of this -- the President so deeply wanted a more progressive bill but was sadly thwarted in his noble efforts by those inhumane, corrupt Congressional "centrists." Right. The evidence was overwhelming from the start that the White House was not only indifferent, but opposed, to the provisions most important to progressives. The administration is getting the bill which they, more or less, wanted from the start -- the one that is a huge boon to the health insurance and pharmaceutical industry. And kudos to Russ Feingold for saying so:

Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.), among the most vocal supporters of the public option, said it would be unfair to blame Lieberman for its apparent demise. Feingold said that responsibility ultimately rests with President Barack Obama and he could have insisted on a higher standard for the legislation.

"This bill appears to be legislation that the president wanted in the first place, so I don’t think focusing it on Lieberman really hits the truth," said Feingold. "I think they could have been higher. I certainly think a stronger bill would have been better in every respect."

Let's repeat that: "This bill appears to be legislation that the president wanted in the first place." Indeed it does. There are rational, practical reasons why that might be so. If you're interested in preserving and expanding political power, then, all other things being equal, it's better to have the pharmaceutical and health insurance industry on your side than opposed to you. Or perhaps they calculated from the start that this was the best bill they could get. The wisdom of that rationale can be debated, but depicting Obama as the impotent progressive victim here of recalcitrant, corrupt centrists is really too much to bear. (source: www.salon.com)

Well kids - this is the final straw with this clown. I was hoping and hoping my wife wasn't right about him 'being a player' but that's exactly what he is - just another politician. The fact that he happens to be black doesn't mean crap. In fact, I'm probably more black than he is, at least in spirit. I'll be talking more about how really corrupt this country and government is in future postings and videos. Stay tuned...

The REAL Thanksgiving message..

Three folks took the time to post some comments regarding the truth about Thanksgiving. The comments were listed under the Palin thread but I wanted to post them here for everyone's enjoyment. My thanks to you folks who wrote these things because they show what this blog really is about. Cut through the bs and dig out the truth about our history, our society, and the moronic beliefs the misguided cling to...

On this Thanksgiving, I will be reflecting on this country's founding and the debt we have to the Pilgrims. In reading the Mayflower Compact I am struck by the 'united we stand, it takes a village' common purpose commitment they pledged:

"Having undertaken, for the Glory of God and advancement of the Christian Faith and Honour of our King and Country, a Voyage to plant the First Colony in the Northern Parts of Virginia, do by these presents solemnly and mutually in the presence of God and one of another, Covenant and Combine ourselves together into a Civil Body Politic, for our better ordering and preservation and furtherance of the ends aforesaid; and by virtue hereof to enact, constitute and frame such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience."

Get that? "...the general good of the Colony, unto which we promise all due submission and obedience." Wow! Sounds like they are advocating single payer health care. Don't let this slip into Sarah's or Glenn's hands or else their tiny brains will implode.

OK, I now understand the tradition of Thanksgiving.

A bunch of illegal aliens show up to “plant a colony”, steal the root crops that had not yet been harvest to supplement the rotten food that they had brought over, came close to starvation, visited a food kitchen set up by the locals, got trained in local agriculture, brought their relatives over, and violently drove the locals out of the neighborhood.

And not being able to get along with each other or without enslaving a people brought from another faraway land, had a bloody civil war. In the midst of this war, the leader of the descendants of these illegal aliens thought that there should be an official day of Thanksgiving, justifying it in these words (from Dennis Pragers' "A Troubled Thanksgiving):

"In the midst of a civil war of unequalled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union."

And so we have a religious family ceremony created by the state.

But not to worry, family predominates and that means travel, even if just down the road. And then a commercial “consumer revolution” occurs in which advertising takes holidays and makes them into marketing opportunities. And since it’s the last decent weather in fall, schools having just acquired Greek traditions and athletics, have football games on the days that working folks have off. Before you know it, Thanksgiving become Turkey Day. But commerce is not done with it. It becomes a day for parades marketing the coming Christmas buying season. Then it becomes the day before the kickoff of the Christmas buying season. Then stores, restaurants, and other commercial facilities are open so that the folks who are not watching football games have something to do instead of hearing Uncle Ralph’s stories again.

From a couple dozen illegal immigrants who claimed they were seeking the “glory of God, advancement of the Christian faith, and an honor of our [English] King and Country”.

Ah, yes. It does make sense.

While times are certainly harder now than years past, it still seems very appropriate to stop and realize just how lucky we are and to give thanks. It also seems like the perfect time to revisit the story of that very first Thanksgiving…….

The first Thanksgiving was held in the early 17th Century between the Pilgrims and the local Indians. The year of that first Thanksgiving had been especially bountiful and both the Pilgrims and the Indians had stored their harvest in preparation for the long, hard winter. The Pilgrims were putting the finishing touches on their little village and in fact had hired several of the Indians to help out. The work was hard and dirty but the Indians didn’t seem to mind and, fortunately, this was before OSHA, the minimum wage and…best of all… labor unions.
One day one of the Pilgrims was watching the Indians work away and thought it might be nice to invite the Indians over to their large meeting house for a big feast to celebrate how good the harvest had been. The Indians loved the idea and on the specified day the Indians arrived at the meeting house in large numbers. That was fine since the building could accommodate many people. There was a huge table in front of the fireplace and in the fireplace was a blazing fire. Only the men were allowed to sit at the large table where it was bright and warm. The women, both Indian and Pilgrim, were relegated to the far end of the room by the door where is was much darker and colder. Still, it sure beat being out in the cold.
The men sat around the table and discussed new ideas for planting they might try the next planting season while the women sat around and debated whether Oprah was gaining or losing weight.
Soon it was time to eat and after all the food was set upon the table everyone agreed they had never seen so much delicious food in one place before. They all dug in and had seconds and even thirds. Following the meal some took short naps but then a bit later the Pilgrims told the Indians they had a little surprise for them. One of the Pilgrims uncorked a barrel of whiskey and let the Indians sample it. One astute fellow said the whiskey gave him a slight burning feeling as it went down and termed the new drink “fire water.” In spite of the slight burn, the whiskey was a huge hit with the Indians and both they and the Pilgrims drank and drank.
To entertain themselves throughout the evening, the Indians did bird calls and then the Pilgrims introduced the Indians to card games. They showed them how to play five card stud and the Indians discovered the importance of being the house, a lesson that would pay off many centuries later.
Finally, the hour got very late and it was time to part. The Indian and Pilgrim men decided to get together the next weekend and go to the strip clubs down the road in Jamestown. All agreed to meet for another big party around Christmas and do a gift exchange with a $5 limit.
As the Indians were walking home that night under a full moon they couldn’t stop talking about how much fun they had and how great a host the Pilgrims had been. Meanwhile, back in the meeting house the Pilgrims had reassembled around the table to discuss ways to “steal” Manhattan from the Indians for a few dollars worth of cheap beads. The Pilgrims had had their eye on Manhattan for some time and felt it would be the perfect spot for one of their most ambitious projects: Wall Street. Once built they planned to establish investment banks along both sides of the street. The investment banks would then sell derivatives and other risky investments back to the Indians and keep them heavily in debt while enabling the Pilgrims to achieve billionaire status.
And they all lived happily ever after…especially the Pilgrims.

Billy Graham loves Sarah...

I've criticized Graham in the past even though I knew how revered he is by the religionists in this country. My criticism wasn't based on any irrational dislike for him, simply my intense dislike for everything he stands for including what he really has preached in the past. His son seems to be more strident than he is.

For some crazy reason, probably masochistic, I listen to Graham's old sermons aired on the radio. I do this only once a week when I'm on my way to the store to pick up the various newspapers. I listen to see if there really is any 'good news' in anything he preaches - there's not. Case in point, just this past Sunday he was giving his version of a Thanksgiving day message. He condemned millions of Americans for not giving sufficient thanks to God for all of the nice things they have like the 'air' we breath and the 'food' we consume. He also said this is the only country in the world that has such freedom of religion. We've seen the result of this so called freedom during Bush's reign of terror haven't we?

His tirade increased in intensity with his citing bible verses about the 'wrath' of God against us sinners, none of us being righteous in God's eyes, and a host of other warnings concerning doom and gloom. He ended his sick message by offering everyone a chance to embrace God because He loves all of us!

What a wonderful Thanksgiving message, right? After listening to it I was so ticked off that I would have killed our Thanksgiving day turkey had it not been already whacked. You know, one of those old testament sacrifices to appease the pissed off Jehovah of the Old testament.

Well, if there were any doubts as to why I dislike him and his ilk, I hope those doubts are erased with the following story found over at the Huffington Post. It seems that Graham invited Sarah Palin to his palatial estate for dinner. She accepted, of course, and will now probably be anointed as the next 2nd Coming. Just a few of the comments posted in the story follow my tirade here. This story, once more shows what I've been harping about for years - Graham is no more than a sick joke like the rest of the religionists in this country!

From Huffington Post:

N.C. — Sarah Palin on Sunday dined and prayed with the Rev. Billy Graham, who has counseled presidents and other politicians for decades.

Graham had never met Palin, who is scheduled to stop at Fort Bragg in eastern North Carolina on Monday to promote her memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life." The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and members of her family flew into Asheville in the western part of the state, then went to Graham's mountaintop home in nearby Montreat for dinner.
Billy Graham said it was an honor having Palin in his home to join his family for dinner and that they took the opportunity to pray together.

"I, like many people, have been impressed with her strong commitment to her faith, to family and love of country," he said in a statement. "I appreciated hearing her speak of her own spiritual journey and her life in Alaska."

Graham's son, Franklin, got to know Palin early this year in Alaska and he invited her to North Carolina.

Palin fans revolt!

Oh dear! It seems that the right wing world is crumbling even more than ever before. Yesterday I heard on the news that the teabaggers are fighting among themselves because they lack any cohesive objectives. They also are confused over what their objectives should be regarding President Obama. Gee, is that really news? I mean when you get a bunch of morons together who are incapable of putting together two logical sentence constructs, what do you expect?

And then just today we found out that Sarah Palin dissed some of her fans who stood waiting in the rain for hours for a chance to touch the hem of her garment. She ignored them. LOL
